• Arminia Bielefeld lost just one of their last 20 league games.
  • The league leaders averaged just 1.0 goal per game across their last six assignments however.
  • Nurnberg won just one of their last eight matches.
  • Arminia Bielefeld beat Nurnberg 5-1 earlier this season.

Arminia back in the winning groove

League leaders Arminia Bielefeld got their title charge back on track last Saturday with a last gasp 2-1 triumph at Holstein Kiel.

Sven Schipplock’s injury time winner sealed the points for the promotion favourites, ending a run of three draws on the spin for Bielefeld in the process.

Back in the familiar surroundings of the SchücoArena this weekend, Arminia, with a fresh kick in their step, should be able to secure back-to-back wins at struggling Nurnberg’s expense.

Nurnberg fighting for their lives

Der Club, who were relegated to Germany’s second tier from the Bundesliga last summer, face the prospect of being demoted in successive seasons in 2019/20, and ahead of their trip to play Bielefeld, 15th placed Nurnberg are just a couple of points clear of the drop zone.

A run of three draws on the bounce has helped them to just about keep their necks above water, though their chances of taking another point at the home of the division’s table toppers seems slim.

Arminia Bielefeld hammered Nurnberg 5-1 when the sides clashed in their reverse league meeting in November in what was the champions elect’s biggest winning margin of the campaign so far – and while the smart money will back them to complete the double this weekend at the prices quoted, a repeat drubbing seems unlikely.

Narrow home win predicted

Averaging just 1.0 goal per 90 minutes across their last six 2. Bundesliga matches, Bielefeld’s have lacked punch in the final third of late, and while they are expected to win on Saturday, their recent attacking performances suggest their eventual margin of victory could be slim.

Nurnberg shipped two or fewer goals in nine of their last 10 league assignments and our correct score prediction backs them to keep the score down again this weekend. Der Club also bagged a goal in seven of their last nine matches as the visiting team and can net a consolation effort in a 2-1 Armina win.
