After six league games, Breidablik have taken charge of the Urvalsdeild, with 11 points to their name so far. They’re out to keep themselves at the summit of the table this weekend, when Stjarnan play just their second away game of the campaign. The visitors may have been given a favourable start with plenty of clashes in front of their home faithful, but that’s not reflected in their points haul to date. They come in to Saturday’s game sat in eighth place in the 12 team league, having dropped off from last year.
Breidablik will be out to take advantage of Stjarnan’s poor form this weekend. The home side are unbeaten at home so far, with two wins to their name. They’ve conceded just once in their last three here, and after another home victory in the cup in midweek they should be full of confidence ahead of this weekend. They’re looking to bounce back from a defeat to champions Valur last weekend, and this seems like a perfect opportunity.
Breidablik have won four and drawn one of their last six at home to Stjarnan, and that form could well continue. There’s already a gap opening up in the table, and the hosts have averaged 1.67 goals per game in the league, while remaining solid at the back. That form should see them impress this weekend, and they’re going up against a side who have been struggling for quite some time.
The visitors failed to win 73% of their away trips last season, claiming 61% of their points at home. Stjarnan also conceded 68% of their goals on the road, with just 39% of the goals they scored coming on their travels. That awful return doesn’t really give us confidence ahead of this trip. They’re going to need a big turnaround in form, because away wins have been rare for the visitors in recent trips.
Stjarnan have failed to win eight of their last nine away league games, conceding twice in six of those visits. With the visitors struggling defensively, and the hosts impressing at the back, we expect Breidablik to dominate this game. League form, the nature of their displays and the head to head record all favour the home win, and so do we.
