Varnamo took maximum points from both games against Degerfors last season but it does feel like a bit of a role reversal has taken place since then. While Degerfors are again sitting comfortably in mid-table, Varnamo are having a miserable campaign and appear to have severely lost their way over the off-season.
They are currently propping up the division with just 5 points from their opening 10 games. It’s all a far cry from last term when they were on the fringes of the promotion picture and already merely trying to stay in the Second tier is clearly their only serious objective this term.
For Degerfors, it’s shaping up to be another fairly uneventful season. They finished exactly 8 points off the play-offs last term but 8 points above the relegation positions and it’s a similar scenario this time around with 6 point cushions in both directions. Clearly they will be looking up though and this is certainly a game where they will be expecting to win.
They come into the match in pretty good form with 8 points from their last 4 matches including a solid 1-0 win at Varberg last time out. At the very least they should extend their unbeaten run to 5 games here and with a respectable average of 1.4 goals per game, they should have enough firepower to cut through this Varnamo defence.
The visitors have big problems in just about every department. They are the division’s lowest scorers with an average of just 0.6 goals per game, a figure that drops to just 0.2 on their travels. They also have the league’s joint worst defensive record with 2.1 goals per game conceded, a figure which rises to 2.4 on the road.
Therefore we have very little reason to fancy them here. They’ve taken just one point away from home so far this term and backing a Degerfors Win certainly looks like it could be the smart move.
Going for Degerfors to Win to Nil could also be worth a punt. The odds available look very decent when you consider that Varnamo have failed to score in 80% of their away league games so far this term.

Varnamo won both meetings last season. They’d not won on 5 trips to Degerfors prior to that though.
