• Erzgebirge Aue have won their last four home games against Karlsruher.
  • Erzgebirge Aue have only lost two of their 14 home games this season.
  • Karlsruher have only won two of their 14 away games this season.
  • Both teams have scored in 64% of Erzgebirge Aue’s home games and Karlsruher’s away games.

Erzgebirge Aue are looking to return to winning ways this weekend

The hosts suffered a 3-0 defeat away at Heidenheim last time out and have now gone three league games without a win, while Karlsruher played out a 1-1 draw at home to St. Pauli and face the prospect of a fourth straight stalemate away at Erzgebirge Aue this weekend. Aue sit 8pts and eight places above Karlsruher in the 2. Bundesliga table with the visitors occupying the relegation playoff place.

Despite being in the midst of a winless run, Erzgebirge Aue boast an excellent home record this season. The hosts average 2.14 points per home game, picking up nine wins, three draws and just two defeats in their own backyard, and score average of 2.00 goals while only conceding an average of 1.07 goals.

Karlsruher have struggled for wins on the road

The visitors might be unbeaten in their last four matches but Karlsruher have only won twice on the road this season, suffering six defeats, but have managed to claim six draws on their travels which is why a double chance bet makes the most sense this weekend. Aue are the favourites to win the game, and for good reason, as Karlsruher only score an average of 1.14 goals per away game but concede an average of 1.79 goals.

We’ve backed a final scoreline of 2-1 in Aue’s favour as 64% of the hosts’ home games and the visitors’ away games have seen both teams score. Over 2.5 goals have been produced in 64% of Aue’s home matches this season, as well as in 57% of Karlsruher’s away games, providing even more reason to expect at least three goals to be scored this weekend.

Goals are expected at both ends of the pitch

Erzgebirge Aue have netted 28-goals in their own backyard this season, over double the number of away goals they have managed, but have only managed to keep clean sheets in 36% of those 14 home games. Karlsruher have only failed to score in 29% of their away matches which for a side sat third from bottom in the table, is an impressive record and one of the main reasons we have backed Aue with a double chance bet rather than an outright win.

The hosts have more goals in them and perform much better in their own backyard than they do on the road and we’re predicting a final scoreline of 2-1 in Aue’s favour but the double chance bet makes the most sense as Karlsruher have a habit of pinching draws on the road.
