• Pauli managed to win only one of their 13 away league games so far this season.
  • Pauli scored just one goal in total in their last three matches.
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in each of Karlsruhe’s last three fixtures.
  • Karlsruhe avoided defeat in each of their last three games.

Karlsruhe climbing away from danger

Karlsruhe’s strengthened their bid for survival in mid-week when they took an excellent point from a tough trip to play Hannover.

The point they secured in their 1-1 draw lifted them out of the bottom two and into the relegation play-off position, extending their unbeaten run since the re-start to three matches in the process.

With momentum building, Karlsruhe will be confident that they can bag more points this weekend at home to a St. Pauli team that carry the third worst away record in the division – though Saturday’s game is unlikely to be a thriller.

Few goals expected

Karlsruhe have averaged just 1.0 goals per 90 minutes since the campaign kicked back into gear, while under 2.5 goals were registered in each of the three games they’ve contested since the postponement finished.

Similarly, St. Pauli have looked almost completely devoid of attacking thrust since the resumption of play, scoring just one goal in their trio of fixtures in a win, defeat and draw against Nurnberg, Darmstadt and Heidenheim respectively.

That lack of cutting edge in forward areas should hamper their chances of taking anything from their visit to Karlsruhe this weekend, and it should also ensure that we see a low-scoring encounter at the Wildparkstadion.

Under 2.5 goals worth backing

KSC, who kept clean sheets in each of their last two games at home, should be powered by their recent unbeaten run, and look to have enough impetus to eke out a narrow victory over poor travellers St. Paul.

With those factors considered, we think the under 2.5 goals market holds value for Saturday’s contest, while correct score backers are pointed towards a 1-0 home win.

Karlsruhe notched just four times in total across their last seven league games at the Wildparkstadion, and a single goal seems about the upper limit of their attacking capabilities at present.
