The season may still be in it’s early stages, but a poor run of form has already seen a change of manager at SJK as Alexei Eremenko senior was appointed on Tuesday to replace departing manager Tommi Kautonen. SJK have claimed just seven points in their opening eight matches this season but the new man has little time to settle in as he is straight back into action this weekend when his side host IFK Mariehamn.
A major reason for the struggles of SJK is down to their inability to hit the back of the net and that is shown perfectly by the fact that 88% of SJK’s matches have had under 2.5 goals in total. With a stat like that, it should come as no surprise to learn that SJK have managed to score just six times this term and have the worst offensive record in the division.
Their visitors, IFK Mariehamn, may have a much better offensive output but they have had plenty of troubles of their own in recent weeks. Most of their troubles have come when on the road and they have scored just five times away from home so far this season.
Given the relative goal scoring problems of both of these sides, and the fact that both of these sides are in pretty poor form at the moment, we cannot see this one going down as a classic. With this in mind, we think backing a lack of goals looks to be the way to go and we are tipping this match to finish with less than 2.5 goals scored.
